US History I
This course can be used as a study resource, for professional development, or to earn college credit by passing a CLEP™ exam (multiple-choice examination). Each college sets its own credit-granting policies for the exam, so check with your college admissions office, test center, or academic adviser before taking the test.
The History of the United States I: Early Colonization to 1877 course covers material that is usually taught in the first semester of a two-semester course in United States history. The course covers information from the age of exploration and earliest colonization to the end of reconstruction following the Civil War. Before 1790, the history of the British colonies is given the focus. The heaviest emphasis of the course is on the decades following nationhood.
